Stainless steel is a type of steel made from a variety of elements that are alloyed together to create a strong, yet corrosion-resistant metal. Types of Stainless Steels

Stainless steel is a type of metal that is composed of a minimum of 12% chromium and can be easily polished to a shiny finish. The most common types of stainless steel are austenitic, ferritic, and martensitic. There are many different grades of stainless steel, with grade 8 being the most commonly used in industrial applications.

Austenitic stainless steels are the most common type and are composed of 18% chromium and 8% nickel. They have a high resistance to corrosion and are able to take a high amount of heat without deteriorating. Austenitic stainless steels are also less likely to form galling and scale.

Ferritic stainless steels have 13% chromium and 5% nickel and have a higher resistance to Corrosion but are less resistant to heat. Martensitic stainless steels contain 22% chromium and 10% nickel and have the highest resistance to Corrosion and heat. They also have the best wearability properties out of all the types of stainless steel.
